The Striped Dress

Navy stripes are a classic style. They never really go out of fashion, but this season they are certainly a huge trend. They look smart, classy stylish and elegant all at once. They have a nautical feel about them, making you look like you have just stepped off a yacht in St Tropez. This seasons stripes include white on navy and navy on white and look great when accesorised with red or gold. The look is crisp and simple with a touch of French chic. Perhaps this latest obsession with stripes was started with the striped top worn by the lovely Audrey Tatou in the film Coco Before Chanel (pictured above).

With stripes usually being a feature of winter and cruise or resort collections, it seems highly likely that this trend will be hanging around until at least the summer. A classic striped dress is the perfect versatile piece to see you through to the  summer.

Sequins are a girl's best friend

Even though Christmas is all but done and dusted for this year, there is no need to pack away the sequins. Sequins are this seasons answer to the post Christmas blues. With prices slashed in the sales, we can all afford splash out on a little bit of sparkle to brighten up a cold winters day. The great thing about this seasons sequins is that they are understated allowing for them to be worn for both daytime and evening. Sequins are no longer just for Xmas party dresses. You can wear just a few or all over depending on the look that you are trying to achieve. Why not feature a sequin piece as part of a one colour outfit with a variety of interesting textures?
