Minimal Chic Vs Modern Decadence

Now that the summer is almost over, it's time to start thinking about our Autumn wardrobes. This season will see a new fashion divide, which you can either pick and choose one or both as your key styles for the next few months. We will be seeing plenty of minimal chic- a look more suited to smart dressers as these collections will include relaxed tailoring and tonal dressing for that understated cool and sophisticated look. There will be lots of neutral colours mixed with metallics, as well as subtle lace features. The key to looking really stylish with these usually boring items are to mix tailored trousers with lightweight knitwear and silk blouses, keep your outfits simple (minimal) so clean lines and fuss-free fabrics are a must, high-heels to add feminity to the blouse/trouser look, keeping the accessories to a minimum to show the laid-back appeal, and finally- go for grown up cashmeres and silks. The main colours you can expect to see in these collections are nudes, grays, blacks, whites, and camels.

The next look to rival the minimal chic is the modern decadence look. This look is a more bolder, full-on look with lots of lace, animal prints, brocade and full skirts combined with faux fur and shearling. This look is all about the texture, layers, and femininity to celebrate true fashion. The key points to achieve the modern decadence look is to embrace metallics for a hint of evening glamour and silver brocade for a luxurious edge. Try animal prints out sensibly with bold black heeled shoes or boots. Faux fur is going to be huge this season, so embrace it for those cold winter months along with statement jewellery to show off your bold side, and of course try the lace. Obviously not too much of it, but wearing it in the right places and with the right amount will look stunning. Shifts will take you from day to night as well as cute shoes. So the choice is yours- minimal chic or modern decadence?
