PDA Jeans At Dorothy Perkins

Do you have trouble finding a decent pair of jeans on the high street at an affordable price?

Well that should not be a problem for you anymore. Dorothy Perkins are now going to be exclusively stocking premium denim brand PDA or Public Display of Affection. The jeans are made from light weight stretchy denim that does not lose its shape. No more bagginess around the knees, these jeans pioneer the latest denim expertise that has only been mastered by two denim sources in the world.

In contrast to other premium denim labels they are incredibly affordable with prices ranging from £30 -£50. There is a range of on trend styles including skinny rollups, bootcut and kick flares which are perfect for this seasons seventies revival. They are also available in a range of washes including acid enzyme, stone and jet black.

We predict these jeans will be flying off the shelves so grab yourself a pair while you can.

Style for your man: 2011 Menswear Trends

Women always ask, “Can you change a man?”, whether it be to trim his facial hair, eat less fast food or simply get him to dress better. Many would answer no, but while he may still have the beard and the burger, this season's menswear trends could get him out of the sweatpants and into the neon, cropped, printed alterna-tux.

Unlike women, men are less concerned with the catwalk, or at least that's what they say. Many consider menswear trends as something that simply passes them by, but this is rarely the case. Trends for men seem to be adopted by what they experience first hand, be it their always-stylish friend who shows up in cargo pants instead of jeans or spotting multi-pocketed shirts on a mannequin in their favourite store. Men like to keep their style simple and insist that it is unique, but the truth is they like to fit in.

Men won't experiment with new trends the way women do (how many times have we seen something daring but fabulous in a magazine and then found it looks hideous on us?), so many of the aspects of this season's new trends could be like teaching your man to run before he can walk. If he's never worn a tux in his life, the new season printed tux is liable to frighten him to death; maybe ease him in to the new season with a pair of wide-legged trousers. Tailoring this season for men is still narrow, but with relaxed silhouettes and loose neck tshirts. As with women's trousers for next season, skinny is out and relaxed, loose styles are in.

Many styles for men this season are easy to achieve with a few slight changes. Neon was a huge trend for next season, but head-to-toe neon only works if you're on the catwalk, or if you're attending an 80s theme party. A cobalt blazer looks great with a simple white shirt and jeans, or a bright yellow tshirt or shirt would be fun with black trousers and a tailored jacket.
Trouser styles for men imitate those for women; like the lusted-after J. Brand houlihans of last season, cargo-style pants are also in for men. The jungle theme is back in on top too, with mulitpocketed camp shirts looking sleek, stylish and casual on men this season.

Again, like women's trends for next season, menswear was beautifully contradictory, allowing complete fun and freedom while remaining completely on trend. For every classic linen suit, navy blazer and white tux was a mass of stripes, 80s inspired styles, velvet jackets and paint-splattered pieces. If your man wants to keep it simple this season choose clean, simple silhouettes with sleek lines and loose fitting trousers in neutral beiges and greys, but if he's a little more adventurous there are plenty of fun, stand-out options for the well-dressed gentleman.

The best handbags for 2011!

Over the past few years, my obsession with handbags has been steadily growing. The back of my wardrobe is groaning under the weight of them and the amount that are hanging off the back of my bedroom door means I can no longer hang up normal things like my dressing gown or coats!

My love for bags comes from my own mum who also has hundreds of the things stacking up in various plots around her bedroom.

Of course, I'm not the only girl who loves a new handbag. Handbags can really complete an outfit. When you'e got the perfect dress and the perfect pair of shoes but feel like there's still something missing, your answer will always come in the form of a handbag.

The best thing about them is the variety of colours, materials, patterns and styles that they come in. Clutch bags, satchels, totes, shoppers, messenger bags, backpacks, saddle bags, hobo, bowler and duffle bags are just some of the many many styles that are available and as we move in 2011, a whole new selection of bags will be brought into the world, meaning our collections will continue to grow!

Satchels are hugely popular at the moment. The various leathers give the satchel a sophisticated and formal edge while the cool colours make them fun enough to be used every day as a casual handbag as well as a smart work bag.

This absolutely gorgeous Burgundy Leather Satchel with buckle straps is from high street retailer Topshop and is the perfect example of sophistication and fun. At £85, it's a bit of an investment handbag but it's seductive burgundy leather contrasting against the black buckle straps mean it's a bag that will certainly be worth every penny!

This cute Canvas Satchel with double buckles from Asos is a great blend of Satchel and Messenger bag. Completely casual thanks to the canvas material but still completely fashionable. It comes in Stone colour with gold tone buckles and contrasting trim and is just so gorgeous that I might have to add it to my own collection!

Clutch bags will never ever go out of style. As long as there are girls wanting to party the night away without having to lug a huge handbag around with them, there will always be a place for the clutch bag. Being so small and compact means you only need the bare essentials and you can sneakily tuck them under your arm or wrap them around your wrist so they're out of the way, leaving you to get on with your night.

The Classic Zip Clutch from Asos features a double zip fastening with pleated front and comes in a girly Blush or stylish Tan colour. The amazing Feather Clutch Bag, also from Asos, is another gorgeous example how stylish and fabulous clutch bags can be. This one is right on trend with the feathers and mock lizard texture and it's twist clasp and inside pocket, your belongings are staying put!

High street retailers do extremely well in the fashion stakes and many of their accessories such as bags, are real outfit staples. But, when it comes to bags, every bag lover wants and needs to get their hands on something just a little more luxurious and pricey. A designer handbag...

For me, it's all about Mulberry and I have now made it my life long ambition to own one of their beautiful beautiful bags! Although the price tags make me want to faint slightly, I'm sure I can over come that and enjoy the bags to the full. Mulberry have many different designs and styles including the Bayswater, Lily and the oh so gorgeous Alexa. Can you imagine having a designer bag named after you? I can picture it now, 'The Cherry' bag by Mulberry! I love it!

Mulberry have recently revealed a brand new bag to their collection, The Tillie. It's a similar style to it's sister Alexa and is made from gorgeous soft leathers in a variety of colours. I do love the light peach and powder beige but the black and chestnut soft matte colours are calling my name. The Tillie bags include traditional Mulberry detailing as well as brand new belt strap locks with trompe l’oeil buckles and although priced from £800 upwards, I think these bags are certainly worth investing in as they would bring myself, and a lot of other girls in the world, much happiness!

Longer Skirt Lengths for S/S2011

Moving into 2011 signals the movement into a new decade and a new period in fashion. Designers this season are mixing the expected and evolved (romantic feminism, bright colours, florals, patterns) with the unexpected and slightly unsettling (wide-legged trousers and longer length skirts.) Designers are pushing us away from trends that not only defined the last decade, but much of the 20th Century.
Enter the longer length skirt.

Long lengths have always traditionally been associated with getting older. As we experiment with youth, (beginning with fathers all over the world yelling "you're not going out like that!!") our hemlines have gotten shorter and more fun. Entering into our twenties we relished in the final decade of over-exposed pins before longer lengths are begrudgingly accepted into the thirties and forties. Short skirts have always been flirty, fun and carefree, a symbol of the feminist movement of the 60s, two fingers up at authority who felt our dirty knees needed to be concealed.

Even later in life mini skirts are accepted with the addition of opaque tights, allowing us more time with our legs exposed without the layers of thick, heavy skirt material. Mini skirts are perfectly acceptable as you get older with the addition of an extra layer of warmth to protect your modesty.

However in the last couple of years the Maxi skirt, glamorised by icons such as Nicole Richie and Colleen Rooney has begun to take centre stage in the summery months. Long length has no longer meant boring or conservative, but fun and exciting again. Bright prints and fabrics have kept the look fresh and exciting.

But these season comes the approac-with-caution hybrid- the midi-skirt. The Midi was seen on catwalks everywhere for the new season, falling just below the knee. The skirt was exciting, fun- something new and dangerous entering the world of fashion. The skirt was bold- in bright stripes or lurid hues, and was without the stigma of a middle-aged uncertain length. This length was not uncertain at all. It was bold and brash and exciting. It was sexy. It had a more-is-more attitude.

The skirt was everywhere. From conservative block colours at Chanel to brights and stripes and everything crazy in other collections. The skirt was transformed from loose and flowing to A line and universally flattering. The extra length allowed much more fun and expression than your typical skirt, and the peek of exposed leg became dangerous, sexy and alluring.

If the mini skirt was the skirt of the last 50 years, could the midi be the future?

D&G Mimosa Floral Shift Dress

Maybe it is just me, but I can't stop thinking about floral dresses for the spring. This floral shift dress or D and G Mimosa Sheath dress is my absolute favourite. Eye poppingly bright colours on a fresh white background  with a touch of retro style all shown off to perfection on the simple shape of a shift dress. This dress would work so many ways perhaps with a denim or leather jacket for a casual look or with a cropped cardigan or tailored jacket for a smarter outfit. It is available from My Wardrobe but if you are looking for a more affordable version check out these choices:

New Look Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

New Look are one of the UK's most popular and most reasonable high street fashion retailers. They grow stronger every season with their latest collections and their Spring/Summer 2011 collection is another strong contender.

The new collection is an explosion of colour. It pops out on every piece and works wonders alongside delicate embellishment, embroidery and many different patterns. The pieces within the collection are affordable and wearable and combine a good mix of modern and vintage.

We all know that the 1970s are back with a vengeance this season and the look and style has been cleverly incorporated into the collection. Take the colour popping trousers to example. They'll bring you mountains of attention thanks to the gorgeous pinks, purples and blues and there's also a style to suit everybody, from carrot pants to skinny and wide legged flares.

Shorts are a key staple for everyone's Spring/Summer wardrobe and they are such a nice change from the jeans and leggings we've been wearing all Winter. The New Look Spring/Summer 2011 collection offers a wide range of cute, fashionable shorts. You can opt for soft silk or flirty floral shorts for a strictly feminine look or alternatively you can choose boho inspired shorts with on trend cut-out detailing.

The various styles of shorts can be worn with absolutely anything. Keep it casual with a simple t-shirt or add a cute chiffon blouse, cropped top or even a blazer.

Denim is still a huge trend this season and the Double Denim trend continues from last year. However, denim can be worked into anything you can think of, from skirts and shorts to jumpsuits and even all over denim dresses which are so simple and comfortable for the hot weather. Team denim skirts and shorts with floral tops and blouses and team a daring jumpsuit with a pair of killer heels for day time and night time outfits.

Dresses are another Spring/Summer wardrobe essential, possibly the most important, and they can be teamed with gorgeous heels, casual flats and pretty cardigans and blazers. The New Look Spring/Summer 2011 collection includes a wonderful range of dresses including a fun twist on the nautical trend with a cute red and black striped t-shirt dress.

Floral dresses are still huge and look great with a denim shirt or blazer, but it's Boho inspired dresses that really play a huge part within the collection. They're cute and feminine, with delicate lace detailing, and you can really turn up the Boho look with a denim waistcoat and tassled accessories, which are key trends this season.

Everything lace is going to be huge for 2011 so I love the doily/tablecloth inspired lace dress teamed with a girly floral scarf and cropped denim jacket. Tail hems are another key trend for 2011. You can keep all the fun of mini skirts while still keeping your modesty intact. There's no doubt that it's a fun trend and the tail hem dress from the new collection is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for parties and weddings.

The complete collection from New Look for Spring/Summer 2011 is extremely impressive. I love the mix of modern and vintage and the amount of colour throughout the collection is bound to raise anyone's spirits. New Look have included a large range of 2011's biggest trends including lace, tail hems, midi skirts, peter pan collars and Boho as well as tassled accessories and even belt purses.

There is no doubt that everyone that shops at New Look this season is going to come away feeling suitably fashionable for Spring/Summer 2011. The collection proves that New Look are one of the strongest contenders on the high street. They've made fashion affordable for everyone and have shown that the year's biggest trends don't just stay on the catwalks.

One Black Shift Dress - 5 Ways

We all love a simple black shift dress. It is flattering, slimming, versatile and never goes out of fashion. You can dress it up or down as required and bring it right on trend with the latest accessories. A good designer shift dress in black is well worth investing in as it will last for so long. This black Ludmilla jersey fitted shift dress by Paul and Joe Sister (pictured above) is a fresh and modern take on the classic style. Here are just five different pieces that you can wear with your shift dress for a very stylish outfit.

The Lace Jacket

Lace is right on trend for spring and summer this year. This lace biker jacket is a simple way to dress up your black shift dress and is available for only £26 from Boohoo in ivory for the daytime or black for the evening.

The Statement Necklace

A chunky, colourful or sparkly necklace can add a little personality to your black shift dress. Choose your necklace to match the style you are trying to acheive from pearl for classic look or this  Josie Chen fringe necklace which is only £20 in the Urban Outfitters sale for a more edgy look.

The Fun Tights

Add a little Parisian glamour to your day with these Henry Holland Paris tights available from My Tights. All you need t complete this look is a bright red handbag.

The Colour Block Cardigan

Another key trend for the spring and summer will be the colour block cardi. Just choose a cardigan in your favourite colour and wear with your shift dress and some flat pumps for a simple but stylish outfit. We love this yellow button through cardigan by Red Herring at Debenhams which is a bargain at only £22.

The Cute Scarf

Scarves are not only a great way to add colour to a black shift dress but are also very fashionable. This heart print scarf by Oasis is both fun and cute.

Vintage Fashion Fair, Primrose Hill, London

Here at the Fashion Buzz, we can't wait until the weekend because Sunday (23rd January) will be the first Vintage Fashion Fair London of 2011. The event which is held at Cecil Sharp House in Primrose Hill, will be open between 11am and 5pm and will feature a large selection of vintage stalls selling clothing, accessories and textiles from a range of decades. In addition to its regular stallholders the fair will also feature a number of new stallholders.

We love vintage fashion because it offers a refeshing change from shopping on the high street and is a great way to get a different and unique outfit. There are so many different styles of vintage clothing that there should be something for everyone. For those who like to keep up with the latest fashions, the styles or the fifties, sixties and seventies are all likely to be having a big influence on fashion this spring and summer.

If you need a treat to get rid of those post Christmas blues, there are sure to be some real gems at the fair, perhaps some original designer pieces by Chanel, Dior or Ossie Clarke.

Will 2011 Bring the End of Skinny Jeans?

The last decade has been dominated by skinny jeans. While boot-cut styles had been the trouser of choice throughout the 90s, skinny jeans were complete revived in the 2000s.
Jeans and pants that tapered at the ankle first became popular in the 1950s, which stars such as Elvis Presley shocking the world with these bad boy tight trousers.
The style became popular again in the 1970s and 80s but disappeared until their revival in the early 2000s. They were favoured initially by hipsters as a back-lash again the baggy jeans that populated the 90s.
In the last 10 years everyone has been seen in skinny jeans, young and old, men and women. But the fashion world is getting bored and over the last few seasons there has been an influx of new trouser styles, from the humble straight leg to the brazen flare. Could 2011, as we enter a new decade, see the end of our ever-faithful skinnies?

Dozens of designers in their Spring/Summer 2011 collections showcased loose fitting, wide legged trousers. While moments of the 80s and 90s have been setting the trends on the catwalk and the high street, with grungy florals, Dr. Martens and 80s inspired fluorescents and stonewashed denim. This season, however, is the return of the 70s. Fluid materials such as silk and jersey give the impression of a relaxed and easy springtime, and come in both vibrant hues and subtle neutrals.

The main style of trousers are high waisted and often belted. Like the 60s Mad Men trends on the catwalk, these styles are meant to emphasise the waist. The wide-legged styles are designed to balance out the hips, and are often belted for extra emphasis on the hourglass silhouette.

Other styles for next season are the tapered carrot trousers, they are slim at the ankle and full through the hips - an evolution of the harem pant that was controversially popular last season.

The idea of trousers themselves often has masculine connotations and can create an androgynous look. As a result designers have gone in either direction- masculine tailoring, with blazers and brogues, or ultra-feminine with soft pussy-bow blouses and platform heels.

The appeal of a trouser which is both flattering and comfortable is clear, but will you be letting go of your skinnies next season?

Elin Kling for H&M

Since 2007, Elin Kling has made a name for herself as Sweden's biggest fashionista after launched her blog Style by Kling.

The blog has now grown steadily in Scandinavia's biggest fashion blog. It has even won several awards and a Web based TV show was also born out of it.

Elin's career in fashion has gone from strength to strength; she now works as a fashion director at Styleby magazine, but what is really making fashion bloggers go green with envy is the fact that Elin has become the first fashion blogger in the world to launch her own fashion collection in an exciting and unique collaboration with popular high street retailer, H&M.

It all started well over a year ao for Elin when she was approached by H&M, no doubt because they wanted to collaborate with someone who lived and breathed fashion and really knew what they were talking about.

Finally on January 10th, the rest of the world found out Elin's big fashion secret as press releases and general frenzy surrounding the revelation made it the biggest fashion story of the day, the week, maybe even the month. Elin also revealed the secret that she had been keeping for over ayear, in a blog post accompanied by official promotional photos.

It's really no big surprise that Elin is majorly excited about the collaboration. On her blog she said: "Almost a year ago I got my first email from H&M, and from that day, a dream came true. I can finally tell you about my collection for H&M! I've got o so much to tell you about being the first fashion blogger in the world doing this collaboration; it's been an AMAZING year."

The collection, titled Elin Kling for H&M is inspired by Elin's own personal style, and not only has she collaborated with one of the biggest high street retailers and helped to design the range, but she also models the clothing in the promotional photographs, adding 'Model' to her list of talents.

The collection is rather capsule as it only consists of 9 pieces and 2 accessories, but as the old saying goes; it's quality over quantity that really matters!

The pieces are all fairly modern and minimalistic, with some slight bohemian influence, particularly within the rather gorgeous splattered dress. Apart from this dress and the black washed leather jacket, the collection is light and subtle in hues of white and pink nudes.

Clean lines on trousers and jackets make these pieces severely sophisticated, while the white T-shirt and shorts are clearly, clean (not for long) cut casuals. My personal favourites are the two dresses, one in nude pink and the other in off white' both extremely elegant pieces.

Cast your eyes closer over the collection and you'll notice very subtle detailing on some of the pieces. The black washed leather jacket holds a discreet un-even hem, while a raw edge peeks out from the wide legged trousers and a hint of chain embellishment on the neckline of one of the dresses adds a touch of glamour to the occasion.

The pieces represent H&M and Elin's style, perfectly mixing draped, feminine and soft materials with harder more sculptured pieces.

Although back in 2008 designer Marc Jacobs made history with the launch of The BB bag, which he named after Filipino blogger, Bryanboy, Elin and H&M's collaboration is on a completely different scale. Elin has had full creative input with this collection and has hopefully launched the beginning of brilliant things within the world of fashion blogging. This could be the first of many designer and blogger collaborations, I've got my fingers crossed that an email from Topshop is currently winging it's way into my inbox!
